Sabbath Sunday #14: Progress

Fr. Christian Mathis (Blessed Is the Kingdom) has made the suggestion that we "rest" on the Sabbath by taking a break from our normal blogging and sharing an older post of which we are particularly fond. Rest? Gladly! I don't get to do that very often, but now, thanks to Fr. Christian, I get to do it at least once a week -- and it gives me more time to spend with God, which is a wonderful gift.

For this week's post, I chose Million Dollar Baby. As our granddaughter, Nikolina, approaches her first birthday, it is edifying to look back on the past nearly 12 months. From the unassembled baby that no one except her family and one urologist (her attending physician) had any hope would live; past the first million dollar bill that gave pause to consider the values of life versus money; past the second million dollar bill that caused Shane, her father, to lose his job; to the spunky year-old (well, almost) who does not cry at blood-drawing but head-bops and shouts "yeah" to the lyrics of contemporary music.

Here is the progression from her first day after an at-birth ten-hour set of surgeries to present day:

Have a blessed Sunday!
